Haiku - Page 1


I hope you enjoy these. They can be hard to do, or easy. I never know which until I begin. Some just click, others take several revisions, and some may never be as good as I'd wish them to be. You can be the judge of  how well I succeeded. Have fun!

Sleep

Sleep has come and gone
Day begins, dragging me
into consciousness


Moths

Like moths to a flame
We are drawn to each other
Caught in the light.


Good Old Days

In ten years time
Yesterday and today will
be the good old days.



Life

Life is difficult
Short, savage and brutal
Then we eat ice cream!




Day Breaks

Sleep has come and gone
Day begins, dragging me
into consciousness


Butterfly Kiss

Eyes caress and smile
Soft cheeks accept silky
Butterfly kisses


Yellowstone

Yellowstone beauty
disguises massive eruption
Marking time.


Stalking

Stalking the night
Searching the dark hungrily
Can't find the       keys!



Worthwhile

Everyone hurts us!
The art is picking the ones who
make it worthwhile.





Dark

Day is done
Dark looms, advancing west
Light struggles in vain.


Hate

If it ends in hate,
no matter the reason,
it was not love.


Something...

Darkened room
Windswept limb scratches window
Something neath the bed.


Care

Cherry tree blooms  
on hillside, lava creeps near
life does not care.

Careworn thoughts persist
Denying sleep's comfort
Yearning for dreams.

Care has worn me down
Age demands surcease
Calm, repair, begin


Moment

A moment with
the right person can last
a lifetime

A moment with
the wrong person can feel
like a lifetime

Courage

One extra moment
of sacrifice, in the face
of fear, is courage!

 

Waves

The thrill of crashing
waves upon the rocks.
Nature most fierce!


Giving

Giving is a
boon above all else.
Blessing the giver.


Mistakes

We make mistakes
Stumble, perhaps rise again
Earth turns regardless

New followers are
new friends; exotic wonders
to experience.


Milky Way

The fuss around me
dies away as I glimpse the
unchanged Milky Way

I lift my eyes from
the fuss around me to the
constant Milky Way.


Heaven

Perhaps I overlook
heaven, while searching
for my star.

Shattered moonlight
On a choppy lake    Link to
the rips in my heart.


Scream

The scream rolled on
Into the night     How dare they
Change Coke for Pepsi!

To the young a
year is endless. To the old
A blink of the eye.

Sleepless hours creep, like
a young turtle desperate
to reach the sea

Windblown wheat on a

Fiddling
While Rome burns
He laughs    delighted!

Sky filled with streaks
Meteors fly    Counter
point to still stars


Governing

When did the servant
Become the master? We gave
Governance away!





Storms

Winds blow, rains adorn
Thunder rolls from night to morn
Saved from heat, storm borne.

Wind blows, rain falls
Lightning streak     Thunder
Slaps the night.

Scars are reminders
Of  conflicts fought
And battles won

Spirits of the dead haunt me
